For many years, timber has been a popular choice of many folks who decided to put a timber cladding touch to their properties. It is because it is readily available, easy to install, affordable, good for the environment and the best of all, it can last for many long years. It comes from natural resources and the impact to the environment can easily be reduce by planting more trees and by using machineries that are good to the environment. It is a natural material that is biodegradable and can be available in many different colors that is suitable to your preferences.

If installed and treated regularly, timber cladding can truly last for centuries or more depending on how harsh the environment seem to be. By using special treatments, it can be made into insect resistant, fire and water repellant, and so on. Actually, the only factor you’ll have to watch out is moisture since it can seep thru the very fibers of the wood, which therefore attract elements that will weaken it. Though the good advantage is that its beauty never fades with time but rather makes it more interesting.

Also, it is nice to take note that timber is lightweight as compared with other cladding materials like bricks and stones. So, it is cost effective to transport it from one place to another without additional time and cost. Aside from that, it is fairly available from many suburbs since a lot of firms offer timber cladding so you can easily choose a company that is nearest to you.

If you own a cladding business and you deal with timbers then you will likely know very well that unseasoned timber cladding are prone to insects and other microorganisms and so, it will certainly rot if leave as it is. Therefore, it is important to remove its sap out to reduce the moisture and you can easily do that by doing certain process that will ensure the reduction. Basically, you will have to suck out the water in the timber to preserve it for many more years and in order to do that, you can let it dry in the sun or by air or thru artificial heat.

In using air for seasoning of timber cladding, what you have to do first is to stack the woods in such a way that the air can flow freely in between. Cover the ends properly since that part easily dries out and it might leave a non-consistent drying process. Cover the top of the stack as well to keep off the moisture and make sure that the bottom of the pile doesn’t touch the ground since it might accidentally seep off water from the floor.

In using artificial heat for seasoning of timber cladding, it is usually the use of a stove or a kiln to generate heat while using a blower to force hot air to the timber and for most of the time, the woods are moved from one stage to another in order to make sure that the moisture content can be properly attained.

Timber cladding uses wood of various styles and designs and as compared with marble cladding it was actually lighter in weight and so, this makes it easier to install and to handle. And since it is not that weighty, companies that deliver cladding doesn’t have much difficulty in transporting it in a large volume.

Woods used are available in a large variety ranging from hard to soft, and there’s even an enhanced and customized variety. So, if you opt for a timber cladding, you’ll surely never run out of choices and no matter what is your taste, it is for sure that you’ll find what you are looking for. Another thing to take note is that not only you have a choice for which design to pick on, you can actually choose a style based on your budget.

Another advantage is that it can easily be enhanced with the use of various tools and chemicals. Just spray on a protective coating and it could last for a century, become resistant to insects like termites, resistant to fire and water and other degrading stuffs.

The reason why it is a choice as a cladding for many centuries is that it provides awesome thermal and sound insulation. Retains heat that is needed on cold seasons and keeping the noise down to its minimum.

Also, since timber cladding is so simple, in case there is any need for repair, there’s no need to spend much time because it is actually easy to fix.

Since timber cladding uses wood and wood comes from trees then it goes to show that there would always be nice steady supply as long as there are plantations and forests. And what good here is that, all the people need to do is to plant another set of trees and there surely be a nice source of wood sometime in the future.

A lot of woods that is usually being utilized as a timber cladding only go through a small number of processes and wouldn’t really require the use of any strong chemicals and the likes. Due to this, it doesn’t demand much energy in order to become the resulting product that was being used for homes and other structures. Less energy means less use of the planet’s resources and therefore, a lot gentler to the environment.

Alongside with what was already been mentioned, an increase demand on timber means a demand for a lot of trees and this is actually good because people are motivated to plant more and more trees. Trees uses the carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and convert it to oxygen and if are many trees then all the extras CO2 could possibly be reduce and this lessens the risk of greenhouse effect and global warming.

Many of the woods that is used in timber cladding could retain their same appearance even after many years has passed and in case the structure from which they were originally installed were demolished, all of the cladding that is in good condition can still be reuse to other structures if needed.

In order to keep timber cladding at its best appearance, it is important to schedule regular maintenance by fixing broken sections, repainting cracked coatings as well as removing stains that are not naturally there. And so, although you could get away using simple tools, it is a lot better if you use specialized materials in doing the job and some of those were handsaws, spray bottles, brush with soft bristles, hose, and so on. Those tools and materials could easily be found in your nearby hardware stores and that basically means there’s no excuse in not using them in maintaining the cladding.

To start, just fill the spray bottle with a mixture of 4 parts of water into 1 part of chlorine and use that to spray those areas with dark stains. Let the mixture be absorbed by the timber cladding by waiting for a few minutes before you use the brush in wiping the loosened stains. Just be careful not to over apply the mixture to those that are not affected since the chlorine would change its color when soaked for a long time.

After that, ensure that the wood was completely dry before you go on with other repairs process and in case you would like to fix a broken section, just remove the nails first then use the handsaw to cut a similar size before nailing a new part. Also, it is advised that you use the same paint in recoating the timber cladding in order that the color would be uniform at all surfaces.

No matter is your style or your preference, there would always be a choice in timber cladding that would be able to suit whatever is in your mind and that is because of its flexibility and a wide range of selections of wood for cladding purposes. Should you desire a modern and sleek appeal then you could go for a high-grade timber while a lower-grade timber would nevertheless provide you with a different character and a more rustic appeal. You could even install it in any orientations that you believe would suit better since the style and designs could be adjusted easily whether it is installed vertically, horizontally or perhaps diagonally.

You have to remember that timber cladding uses timbers that has their own set of unique characteristics and therefore, it would be wise if you are aware of this in order to pick which is best for the location. Also, it is important to consider the type of walls wherein you would like to attach the cladding as the walls have to carry the full weight of the timber for a long time and in case you are not sure, then going for a lightweight timber would be the most preferable.

Lastly, don’t overlook the effect of water on timber and so, it is vital that you install it leaving at least 15cm from the ground and by adding flashing on top of doors and windows in order to keep the water from soaking in as much as possible away from the timber cladding since water would no doubt stain the timber which can be undesirable for most of the time.

Timber cladding is one of the most popular external wall cladding that gives unique look to a house or building where it was used. In case you are not aware of what it is, it is using certain woods to cover the exterior surfaces of a building to provide protection from weather, resist moisture and heat, and provide sound absorption. Its natural beauty appeals to most people especially those who are sensitive in artistic design. They have wide range of uses and they are easy to handle.

Timber cladding consists of two profiles, sawn and machined, which is based on how the wood was prepared. Sawn profile has different sets of look but in majority they were placed naturally in a row either straight or in slanted direction. The woods edges were naturally the result of sawing them and woods that are easy to cut are usually used. Machined profile as the name suggests, the woods were shaped using a machine, which allows smooth rounded parts, chamfered, or groove in edges of the wood. This profile provides a look that can’t be achieved by merely sawing.

Woods are chosen depending on the chosen timber cladding profile. Popular woods used are oak, sweet chestnut and elm. Each has their unique artistic value and natural design. Just be aware that certain species of woods release saps that can be corrosive to your tools or other metal surfaces so make sure to be knowledgeable about this. So, if you are planning to install this kind of cladding to your home, you can check out sites online that have extensive information that you will need to make it a reality.
